How ShelfToWorld mail rentals work
One responsive web app for desktop, iOS Safari, and Android Chrome. No App Store build. No meetups.
1. Catalog your shelf
Required: Like New / Good / Acceptable, completeness (and missing items — case, manual, cart or disc for games, including Sega CD and boxed PC), format or platform, replacement value. Photograph covers or spines, import a CSV, or add titles one by one. Photos on a listing are optional. We refuse water-damaged unreadable print, cracked unplayable discs, parts-only games, and digital keys (Steam/GOG/Epic, eShop, PSN).
2. Request a title
Members: $15/month, 1 out, standard-weight postage + prepaid return included. Guests: rental fee + round-trip postage + insurance. Oversize (board games, collector editions, big box sets) always surcharges, even for members. Standard game carts and discs usually do not.
3. Lender accepts
Free to cancel until accept. After accept and before ship, a limited cancel costs a small fee and forfeits insurance — no bounty. After the parcel ships, you cannot cancel.
4. Ship with a return label inside
Accepting unlocks street addresses on printable outbound and prepaid return stubs. Pack a padded envelope. Include the prepaid return. Ship within 3–5 business days or we auto-cancel with full make-good to the borrower.
5. Clock starts on “received”
Borrower picks 7 / 14 / 30 days. Delivery confirmation (or a delivery-scan stub) starts the clock. Tracking is visible to both once shipped.
6. Late policy with no daily fees
Reminders, then a 3-day grace to mark the return shipped. After that: automatic buyout at the lender’s replacement value. Overdue borrowers are blocked from new rentals until resolved.
7. Rate both ways
After complete, both parties leave 1–5 stars and an optional note. Separate lender vs borrower scores. Public average + count. “New” until 3 completes. Lenders get a ranking boost. Low borrower scores add a larger hold. No edits after 14 days. Report abuse to hide a note.
